Coping with Loneliness

Tips

1. Get Occupied

Even if it’s simply going to a park, it beats sitting in the house where you can think of negative things the most. If you can’t drive anywhere at the moment, watch a series that can get your negative thoughts out of your mind and on to the plot. Try hobbies like reading or even blogging.

2. Pursue Passions

Believe it or not, this time alone is a great time to go after everything you want to do in your life. Try things you never thought you would succeed at. Have you ever thought about being a dancer or actress? Try different side gigs out. You may surprise yourself.

3. Self Care

Self care is highly important. Some people do not even realize that they may not be giving themselves enough of it. Taking the time to fix things about yourself will give you a sense of contentment, and you will learn to love your “me” time. Try things such as giving yourself a makeover, working out more, etc. Anything that will even just release endorphins will get you out of that state of mind. Stay positive even when you do not feel like it.

4. Make New Friends

There is nothing wrong with getting out there to find new people to add to your circle. There are even apps for this in case you do not want to go to many places to find them. Look for people that have interests that you can relate to or people who can persuade you to try something new with them.

5. Spend Time With Children (If You Have Any)

A lot of people can feel lonely, even with kids! If you have children, spend more time with them rather than having them occupied and off in their own room. Children can provide so much entertainment and keep you on your feet. This will also give them the opportunity to learn even more from you during this moment. Both of you may as well benefit from time spent together.

6. Talk To Someone About It

At times, loneliness can turn into depression if experienced for long periods. Those negative emotions can turn into more severe negative emotions. When depression strikes, talk to some about it. Sometimes, you may just need a push, some encouragement, or someone to simply tell you how great you are.

7. Work On Your Mind

Lastly, work on changing your state of mind. Are really lonely? Do you have family to talk to? What about some acquaintances that you may have not hung out with in a while. Most important of all, God is there with you at all times. Talk to him about it. The reality that stands is that you are never alone. You just have to learn how to come to that realization.
